WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Feb. 4, 2010 - Whittemore-Prescott saw a big early lead get away, but recovered to defeat John Glenn 56-44 for a North East Michigan Conference girls basketball victory Thursday.

The Cards took an 18-8 lead after one quarter, getting a pair of 3-pointers and six points from Snowy DeCaen. The Cards led 27-10 in the second quarter but Glenn came back behind Bri Sahr and Holly Duncan to cut it to 31-24 at  the half. The Bobcats held the lead for much of the third quarter before W-P finished the quarter strong to lead 40-36.

W-P hit 8-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter, including four straight by Forton, and Cortney Bork and Nicole Tanner each had four points in the period as the Cards pulled away.

Forton finished with a game-high 19 points, with DeCaen adding nine.

Sahr led Glenn (3-11, 2-4 NEMC) with 12 points, 10 during the second quarter, with Duncan adding eight.

The Cards (5-9, 1-6) snapped a 16-game league losing streak with the victory, dating back to the final game of the 2007-8 season.
