STANDISH-STERLING - Feb. 2, 2010 - Alpena's girls basketball team ended Standish-Sterling's eight-game win streak Tuesday with a 63-47 victory over the flu-ridden Panthers.
The Wildcats outscored SSC in every quarter, leading 27-21 at the half and 45-37 heading into the fourth.
"They beat us in every statistical category, in just about every way you can," said SSC coach Kevin King. "They beat us in hustle, execution, free throw percentage, field goal percentage, you name it.
"It wasn't a good night for us at all. Hopefully we'll be able to get healthy again by Thursday (when league-leading Tawas Area visits)."
Kelsye Mielke led the Panthers (12-3) with 14 points, with Allison Collier adding eight.
Kelly Bates paced Alpena with 11 points. |
