ALCONA - Mar. 5, 2010 - Offense came at a premium during Friday's Class C district title game at Alcona. But the Tigers had more of it than did Rogers City, defeating the Hurons 33-21 for their second straight district title.
Alcona advances to next Tuesday's regional semifinal at Traverse City West, where they will face perennial power McBain.
Rogers City had beaten Alcona twice during the regular season, including a 54-53 double-overtime thriller in their last meeting.
The Tigers held the Hurons to just four first-half points and led 15-4 thanks to eight points from Megan Miller.
Miller finished with a game-high 12 points for the Tigers (11-11), with Amelia Oliver adding nine, including five in the third quarter.
Logan Schuteman led Rogers City (12-11) with six points. |
