PINCONNING - Mar. 1, 2010 - Essexville Garber brought Pinconning's girls basketball season to a close in Monday's Class B district tournament opener, defeating the Spartans 69-40.

The Duke's Kara Brewer hit four 3-pointers in the first half and Ashton Morse scored 10 of her 16 points as Garber raced to a 38-12 halftime lead.

Pinny was able to generate some offense in the third quarter, but Garber's lead grew to 58-27 despite 3-poitners from Jessica Vidalez, Lauren Look and Dana Mayer.

Brewer finished with 17 points and Morse had 16 as Garber (14-7) advances to Wednesday's semifinal against John Glenn.

Vidalez scored 12 and Look nine for the Spartans (5-16).
