JOHN GLENN - Feb. 26, 2010 - Standish-Sterling welcomed back Cole Walderzak from an injury on Friday, and the Panthers responded with a 66-42 victory at John Glenn to finish off their regular season with a victory.
Walderzak finished with 17 points, including 11 in the third quarter as SSC broke away from a 24-19 halftime lead with a 23-11 run in the third quarter.
"Cole was back in, and that helped a lot," said SSC coach Tom Murray. "We played a fantastic third quarter. It was a pretty good victory and Cole came out of it healthy.
"Now we have a week off to figure out how to best get tuned up for districts."
Bobby Sanch led the Panthers (14-6, 6-4 NEMC) with 19 points. Standish-Sterling opens district tournament play at Ogemaw Heights against Gladwin on Wednesday, Mar. 10.
Jaye Kudrow led Glenn (5-13, 2-7) with eight points.
