OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Jan. 29, 2010 - Ogemaw Heights moved into a first place tie with Pinconning atop the North East Michigan Conference on Friday, defeating Whittemore-Prescott 73-51 while Pinny suffered its first conference defeat of the season.

Ogemaw took a 43-23 halftime lead and maintained a healthy advantage through the second half, though Falcon coach Jon VanOosten noted that the Cardinals played much better than in the teams' first meeting earlier this season.

"It wasn't a pretty game," VanOosten said. "But we got the win.

"W-P is much improved. They have some good young players. Our reserves got to see lots of action which is always nice to see."

Alex Jennings led the Falcons with 18 points, including 6-of-6 from the floor, while Anthony Zettel had another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Robby Kish also added 11 points as the Falcons improved to 10-1 (5-1 NEMC).

Chris Downes led the Cardinals (3-8, 0-6) with 12 points, with Clay Loomis adding 10.

Ogemaw hosts Pinconning on Friday, Feb. 5, hoping to avenge an earlier defeat to the Spartans.
