STATS

ALCONA - Jan. 27. 2010 - Alcona's boys basketball team wasn't able to finish strong after a solid first half against Gladwin on Wednesday, falling 54-35 to the Flying G's after trailing by just one at halftime.

Kenny Malmo, Jordan Jablonski and Kegan Smith led the way offensively for the Flying G's as they pulled away from a 22-21 halftime edge, while Alcona managed just 14 points after the break.

"Again we played a pretty decent first half," said Alcona coach Seth Coffing. "We somehoe have to figure out how to carry the intensity we bring into the game over to the second half.

"Our schedule presents the opportunity to have a much better second half of the season than we had in the first half. But we have to play somewhere close to four quarters of basketball in order for that to happen."

Smith finished with 13 points and Malmo with 12 to lead the G's (6-5).

Alex Cole led the Tigers (2-8) with 12 points and seven rebounds, with Brock Lavergne adding seven points.
