Tawas Area 11-22, at Hillman 0-2

HILLMAN - May 25, 2010 - The Tawas Area Lady Brave softball team swept Hillman on Monday. Tawas took the opener by the score of 11-0 and came back to claim the nightcap 22-2 in four innings.

Abby Gentges got the win in the opener allowing no runs on one hit. She struck out nine and walked three. Schook took the loss for the Tigers allowing eleven runs on eight hits. She struck out eleven and walked six.

The game was scoreless through two innings, but Tawas pushed three runs across in the top of the third on a walk to Arianna Conklin, a single by Gentges, and doubles by Ivy Schaaf and Rachel Adaline

The Lady Braves added four more in the fourth on walks to Richelle Payea, Conklin and Gentges and a triple by Schaaf. Schaaf scored on a passed ball to give Tawas a 7-0 lead.

The Braves added two more in the fourth on a walk to Adaline, a triple by Christie Cooper and a single by Payea. The final two runs came in the seventh on a double by Amber Yates, a walk to Cooper and a series of five wild pitches.

Leading hitters for Tawas were: Ivy Schaaf with a double, triple and four RBI, Rachel Adaline with two doubles, Christie Cooper with a triple and one RBI, Payea with a single and one RBI and Yates and Gentges with one hit each. Jones had the lone hit for the Tigers.

Annie Righetti got the win in game two, a four inning 22-2 mercy win. Annie allowed one earned run on seven hits. She struck out one and walked one. Kennard took the loss for Hillman.

Tawas scored four runs in the first, two in the second, seven in the third and nine runs in the fourth. Hillman got single runs in the first and third innings.

Leading hitters for the Lady Braves were: Rachel Adaline with two doubles, a home run and six RBI, Katie McKenzie with a double, single and four RBI, Christie Cooper with two doubles and three RBI, Annie Righetti with two hits and three RBI, Jenny Ross with a double and one RBI, Arianna Conklin with two hits and one RBI, Ivy Schaaf with a double and a single and Shelby Alda with one hit.
