Tawas Area split a Northeast Michigan Conference doubleheader with Ogemaw on Tuesday. Tawas won the first game by the score of 7-4 while Ogemaw took the nightcap in eight innings by the score of 7-2.
Abby Gentges got the win in game one allowing two earned runs on five hits. She struck out eight and walked nine Falcon batters. Dombrowski took the loss for Ogemaw allowing seven runs on twelve hits. She struck out five and walked one.
Ogemaw took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Noble, a walk, a hit batter and an error. Tawas regained the lead by mounting a two out rally in the bottom of the inning. Katie McKenzie singled. Rachel Adaline doubled her home. Amber Yates walked and Jenny Ross delivered a two RBI double for the 3-1 lead.
The Falcons came back with three in the second on a walk to Rabidue, a single by Immel, walks to Shelley and Noble and a two RBI single by Andrea Gillette.
Tawas got the lead back for good in the bottom of the inning on a triple by Shelby Alda, a double by Gentges, a single by Ivy Schaaf and a RBI single by Rachel Adaline. Tawas added an insurance run in the fourth on a single by Schaaf, a sacrifice by Christie Cooper and a RBI single by McKenzie.
Leading hitters for Tawas were: Rachel Adaline with a single, double and two RBI, Jenny Ross with two doubles and two RBI, Katie McKenzie with two singles and one RBI, Ivy Schaaf with three hits, Abby Gentges with a single and a double and Shelby Alda with a triple.
Leading the Falcon hitters were: Andrea Gillette with one hit and two RBI, Noble with one hit and one RBI, Immel with two hits and Josie Wiltse with one hit.
Game two was knotted at 2 at the end of seven, but Ogemaw pushed five unearned runs across in the top of the eighth to claim a 7-2 win. Abby Gentges picked up the loss for Tawas allowing one earned run on six hits. She struck out five and walked four. Sarah Mairose got the win for Ogemaw allowing two runs on seven hits. She struck out nine and walked one.
Tawas got the first run of the game in the third on a single by Gentges, a stolen base, a ground out and a wild pitch. They added their second run in the fourth on a Rachel Adaline home run.
The Falcons tied it in the fifth on singles by Josie Wiltse, Mairose and Thompson and then pushed five unearned runs across in the eighth for the win.
