JOHN GLENN - Feb. 2, 2009 - Ogemaw Heights broke away from a 22-22 halftime tie Monday by outscoring John Glenn 15-7 in the third quarter to key a 55-45 victory on the Bobcats' home floor.
The win keeps the Falcons one game behind Tawas Area in the NEMC title chase.
"The game started off OK," said Ogemaw coach Tim Hansen. "We got a small lead, then got sloppy and started throwing the ball all over the gym.
"We settled down and played a better second half."
Hansen added that Glenn's defense had a lot to do with his team's turnover issues.
Nine of the 10 Falcons scored in the game, including six during the critical third quarter run.
Ashley Thompson scored 19 points, Josie Wiltse and Lauren Gillette added eight apiece and Kate Morrell had seven as the Falcons improved to 9-3 (5-1 NEMC).
Lauren Bluhm led Glenn (7-6, 2-3) with 12 points.
