OSCODA - Dec. 12, 2008 - Whittemore-Prescott raced to a 21-2 first quarter lead and claimed a 57-33 non-conference boys basketball victory at Oscoda on Friday.
The Cardinals led 34-7 at the half.
"We just have a huge lack of experience," said Oscoda coach Kirk Franklin. "None of these guys had ever started a varsity game (before this season), but I told the boys this is just something we have to deal with.
"We just need to hustle, and our transition defense wasn't there. Whittemore has some pretty long kids, and Billy Raushi especially is very athletic, but defensively we needed to step up better than we did."
Raushi finished with 23 points, with Tristan Kohlhoff adding 12 for the Cards (1-1).
Kyle McCausey led the Owls with nine points.
"I was really pleased with (Kyle and Brandon) McCausey," Franklin said. "We had a decent third quarter, and they really were the catalysts for that, even as sophomores." |
