STANDISH-STERLING - Dec. 17, 2008 - Standish-Sterling went to 6-8 Cole Walderzak early and often against Oscoda on Wednesday, and the undersized Owls simply had no answer.
Walderzak scored 16 of his career-high 20 points in the first quarter as the Panther built a 20-6 lead and went on to a 68-35 non-conference boys basketball victory.
All but one of the 11 Panthers who played got in the scoring column. Trevor Karbowski had seven in the second quarter and Will Stanley hit a 3-pointer as SSC built a 40-19 lead at the half.
Karbowski finished with 11 points and Kevin Reeves had eight for the Panthers (2-0).
Justin Cain led Oscoda (0-3) with 11 and Chris Dehmel scored nine.
