OSCODA - Jan. 21, 2009 - Standish-Sterling used a balanced scoring effort Wednesday, built a 29-18 halftime lead and held off fast-improving Oscoda 56-47 in a non-conference boys basketball victory.
The Panthers, who beat the Owls 68-35 in December, had to work a little harder this time around, but had a big edge inside that proved to be enough as most of SSC's points came from in or near the paint.
Trevor Karbowski scored 11 points, Adam Gulvas and Cole Walderzak each added 10 and Mark Lorence had nine to provide most of the Panthers' (5-2) scoring.
Tom Schonfeld led the Owls (2-7) with 10 points, with Brandon McCausey adding nine and Justin Cain scoring eight.
