OSCODA - Mar. 3, 2009 - Shorthanded AuGres-Sims got a big boost from freshman Kendall Rollins in the fourth quarter as the Wolverines held off Oscoda 53-48 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday.
Rollins hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight of the Wolverines' nine fourth quarter points as AGS pulled away from a 44-42 lead after three quarters.
AuGres-Sims led 31-30 at the half, but Oscoda gave the Wolverines a battle by hitting four 3-pointers in the first half and went 6-of-6 free throws in the first two quarters.
Rollins, Travis Byard and Alex Lutz each had 10 points to lead AGS (9-10), with Kyle Gingerich adding nine. Nate Jennings had 11 rebounds and Lutz had four assists.
Chris Dehmel continued his strong late-season play for the Owls (3-16) with a team-high 13 points, with Brandon McCausey adding nine.
Oscoda closes out the regular season Thursday at home against Ogemaw Heights while the Wolverines host Fairview on Friday in a make-up game from last week. |
