AuGRES-SIMS - May 5, 2009 - Mio AuSable took another win in what is shaping up to be a three-way race for the North Star League title, taking the AuGres-Sims Invitational trophy on Tuesday.

The Thunderbolts ran up 114.33 points to the host Wolverines' 99, followed by Hillman (84), Alcona (72), Fairview (58.33), Hale (47.33), Posen (28) and Oscoda (24).

Mio, AGS and Hillman have engaged in three tight battles this season, with Mio coming out on top twice, Hillman once and the Wolverines as the runner-up each time.

The Wolverines' A.J. Baker took meet MVP honors with wins in the 1600 (4:50.41), 800 (2:06.72) and 3200 (meet and school-record 10:19.93), as well as anchoring the winning 4x800 relay with Alex Lutz, Chad Taylor and Nathan Trapp (8:47.86). Nate Jennings was also a winner for the Wolverines, taking the shot put (40-2.5); and Connor Pendred claimed the 200 (24.29).

Winning for Mio were Michael Kososky in the pole vault (12-1); and Clarence Buhlman in the 300 hurdles (45.25).

Hillman's winners were Richard Olree in the 100 (11.73); and Jeremiah Burger, Brandon Baur, Dustin Vanderveer and Olree in the 4x100 (47.61).

Winning for Alcona were Chris Stewart in the 400 (53.79) and Scott MacNeill, Matt Mullen, Stewart and Taylor Kauffman in the 4x400 (3:44.64).

Fairview's Aaron Haskin won the high jump (5-11), while teammate Dillon Sands was victorious in the 110 hurdles (17.21).

Hale's Brenden O'Dell won the discus (117-8), while Oscoda got a win from its 4x200 relay team of Justin Cain, Dylan Kachur, John Meltz and Tom Schonfeld (1:39.62).
