CADILLAC - May 15, 2009 - The Ogemaw Heights girls track and field team sent three girls to the state finals thanks to their performances at Friday's Division 2 regionals in Cadillac, with several other bringing home regional medals.

The Falcons as a team placed fifth behind Chippewa Hills, Gaylord, Petoskey and Cadillac.

Kalena Franklin won a regional title for the Falcons in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.31, and also qualified in the 200 by taking second (26.90).

The Falcons also continued their strong throwing tradition, with Kayla Brindley taking second in the discus (127-3) and third in the shot put (38-0, beating the qualifying standard) to advance to the state finals. Lauren Steinhurst also advanced with a third-place, state-qualifying throw of 117-4 in the discus.

John Glenn, which placed 12th overall, advanced Lauren Bluhm in the shot put (4th, 36-4).

Other Ogemaw Heights medallists (top eight finishers) were the 4x800 relay team of Adrien Steinhurst, Rylee Nowak, Laken Morrison and Keely Wyatt (7th, 10:38.33); Kristian Franklin in the 100 (7th, 13.90); Morrison in the 400 (1:07.80); and Kristian Franklin, Kristeen Soper, Wyatt and Kalena Franklin in the 4x400 (4th, 4:18.47).

For John Glenn, Bri Kokaly took fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.36) and eighth in the 300 hurdles (52.79).
