OSCODA - May 11, 2009 - Ogemaw Heights' girls soccer team built a six-goal lead Monday and cruised past Oscoda 6-2 in a non-conference girls soccer matchup.
The Falcons led 3-0 at the half and scored the first three goals of the second half before Ashley Suszek scored on a penalty kick to break the ice for the Owls.
"We weren't real sharp in the first half," said Ogemaw coach Jeff Young. "The first 20 minutes of the second half we did what we were supposed to. We could have finished a little better, but during that bit of the game we played very well."
Kristi Killackey scored twice for the Falcons (6-5-1), with Emily Walker, Alicia Wood, LIsa Marshall and Ashley Morris each scoring once. Cara Crawford had two assists and Walker one, while Emily Sheltrown had three saves.
Dani Griffin scored her team-high 13th goal late in the game for Oscoda (5-8). Nicole Jackson had 20 saves, while Katia Kotula led the Oscoda defense.
