OSCODA - Apr. 27, 2009 - Oscoda's girls soccer team bounced back from consecutive shutout losses Monday, explodingfor eight unanswered goals against visiting Pinconning.  The match ended by mercy rule with a minute and 36 seconds left.

"Everyone played great!  We played better than I expected tonight", was Oscoda junior captain Rushelle Sidebottom's reaction.

Oscoda jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead when Dani Griffin stole the ball and took a shot that found the net in the fifth minute of the game.  21 minutes later Katia Kotula stole a ball in the defensive zone and blasted it downfield, finding Sidebottom midstride.  Sidebottom found the net giving the Lady Owls a comfortable lead.

Ten minutes into the second half Krystin Inman found Griffin with a pass that Griffin scored with.  At the 57th minute Inman passed the ball to Sidebottom who then scored her second goal.  Eight minutes later Sidebottom and Griffin hooked up with Griffin earning the hat-trick.  Inman scored a goal of her own in the 68th minute when a direct kick she shot skittered under the Spartan goalkeeper and trickled into the goal mouth.

Sidebottom earned her hat-trick in the 72nd minute with the help of Katy Peacock.  Senior Kelbi Clarke scored her first varsity goal in the 78th minute when she converted a penalty kick after a Pinconning handball in the penalty area.  That goal ended the match.

"We let loose of our frustrations tonight," said Oscoda coach Gary Schneider. " We've been short on goals the last few matchs and hopefully we have our offense back on track now.

Oscoda travels to Tawas on Wednesday night for a 6:00pm match and then to Gladwin on Friday for a 5:00pm start.

Nicole Jackson picked up the shutout in net.  Jackson stopped all eight Spartan scoring chances.  Oscoda (4-3) took 27 shots on goal.

The Owl defense was once again led by Kotula who finished with 10 steals and 12 intercepts.  Peacock earned 9 steals and 10 intercepts.

Ali Daniels had 18 saves for Pinny (0-5).
