OSCODA - Apr. 21, 2009 - The Oscodagirls soccer team hosted Roscommon Tuesday night and lost the match, 2-0.
Oscoda outshot the Lady Bucks, 11-7 and controlled a good portion of the match.
"We just couldn't get any breaks tonight", was Assistant Coach Tim Colborn's reaction. "We had multiple chances to control the match but Roscommon put the ball in the net and we didn't."
Oscoda had a golden opportunity to tie the match early in the second half when a penalty kick was awarded but the ball sailed inches outside the goal.
Roscommon scored their first goal off a Direct Kick at the 24 minute mark. Oscoda Keeper Nicole Jackson made the save initially but was bumped over the line with the ball during the scramble. Roscommon sealed the victory in the 70th minute.
Scoring for the Lady Bucks were Casey Tomak and Olivia Meadows.
Wasted in the loss was an outstanding defensive match by senior captain Katia Kotula. Kotula was credited with 13 steals, 13 intercepts and also a non-keeper save.
The Owls fall to 3-2 early in the season but have a chance to put another win on the board Wednesday night in West Branch when they face Ogemaw Heights.
