Apr. 2, 2009 - Oscoda's girls soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with its second victory over Houghton Lake in a week, this time by a 6-1 score.
Rushelle Sidebottom scored off an Ashley Suszek pass in the game's sixth minute to put the Owls up for good. Chelsey Carraway and Krystin Inman also scored in the first half for a 3-0 margin at the break.
"We showed a well balanced attack all match," said Oscoda coach Gary Schneider. "We cashed in on the many chances our ball movement was creating."
Sidebottom and Carraway each added their second goals of the game in the second half, and Kelli Lehman netted the Owls' final score with 30 seconds left.
Houghton Lake's Victoria Smith scored in the 72nd minute.
The Owls outshot Houghton Lake, 16-3.
Nicole Jackson had two saves, while Inman had 10 intercepts and a steal and Katia Kotula had four steals and eight intercepts.
The Owls (2-0) next play April 13 at Tawas Area.
