OSCODA - May 26, 2009 - Grayling converted a penalty kick with less than two minutes remaining in Tuesday's Division 3 girls soccer opener, snapping a 2-2 tie and ending Oscoda's season more quickly than the Owls had planned.

The Owls took a 2-0 lead in the first half, with Dani Griffin taking in Katia Kotula's long pass and scoring the first goal. Chelsea Carraway finished off Griffin shot that had been deflected for the two-goal lead with 10 minutes left in the half.

Grayling scored shortly before halftime and carried that momentum into the second half, holding the Owls to just two shots after the break and tying the score with 14 minutes left.

The Owls finish their season at 8-10. Grayling moves on to play Kalkaska on Wednesday, with the winner playing the Tawas-Cheboygan winner on Saturday.
