OGEMAW HEIGHTS - May 8, 2009 - Jake Wangler hit three home runs, including a grand slam in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, to highlight Ogemaw Heights' 11-1 and 10-2 sweep of Gaylord.
Wangler had a home run and three RBIs in the opener, and he, Andrew Funsch and Chris Bones each had doubles as the Falcons ended the game in five innings. Nathan Noffsinger also added two hits and three RBIs.
Alex Jennings earned the win, tossing three innings of two-hit ball, giving up Gaylord's one run on three walks with four strikeouts. Eric Noble pitched two shutout innings in relief.
In the second game, Wangler's grand slam broke open a 2-1 game.
John Hughes picked up the win in relief of John Hughes, who started and went 3-1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned). Hughes, Jarritt Orlando and Dalton Worthy combined to shut out the Blue Devils over the final 3-2/3 innings.
The Falcons (9-8) travel to Bay City All Saints on Monday.
