STANDISH-STERLING - Oct. 14, 2009 - Whittemore-Prescott's volleyball team came back from a five-point deficit in the fifth and final game of Wednesday's NEMC match at Standish-Sterling to claim a 25-27, 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, 17-15 victory over the Panthers.

"I thought the girls played consistent tonight," said W-P coach Helen Loomis, "with the exception of Game 4. I credit the girls for staying composed in Game 5."

SSC (12-15-3, 0-8 NEMC) led 7-2 and 12-9 in the fifth game before W-P (13-6-1, 3-5) came back for the win.

Leading W-P were Kayla Camp with six aces, Jordan Maxwell with 35 assists, Leighanna Loomis with 13 kills, and Loomis and Maxwell with 10 digs apiece.

For the panthers, Jessica Fenner had 16 kills, Karina Pierce added 54 assists, Megan Heiser had 21 digs and Chelsea Szostak had six aces.
