OSCODA - Aug. 31, 2009 - Whittemore-Prescott claimed its first victory of the season Monday with a 25-14, 25-10, 25-13 sweep of Oscoda.

"We played much better tonight with fewer errors and better communication," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "Our net play was more aggressive and we had some great saves on defense.

"All team members showed massive improvement but we still need to continue to work hard to get better."

Leading the Cards (1-1) were Snowy DeCaen with 18 points and six aces; Jordan Maxwell with 21 assists; Chelsea Jasman with 10 digs; and Leighanna Loomis with seven pike kills.

Oscoda dropped to 2-1 with the loss.
