STANDISH-STERLING - Sep. 14, 2009 - Standish-Sterling led from start to finish Monday in a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 over former NEMC foe Oscoda in a non-conference volleyball match.
SSC coach Becky Murphy said the win provided a much-needed confidence boost for her squad.
"Our team seems to be steadily improving and working together," she said. "We've had two girls (Emily Meschke and Christy Schott) out for the past week and a half due to injury. However the rest of the team has picked up the slack."
Jessica Fenner, Christina Proulx and Kierstin Sanch all had strong games at the net. Murphy added that Danielle Milan, subbing at libero for Meschke, also had a strong outing.
The Panthers (2-6) are at Pinconning on Wednesday, while the Owls fell to 3-2.
