ALCONA - Sep. 16, 2009 - Oscoda defeated Alcona in a non-conference volleyball match 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 Wednesday, but that was secondary to what the Owls and Tigers did off the court previous to the contest.

The squads combined to raise $2,500 for breast cancer research in their "Volley for a Cure," presenting a check for the funds to Tawas St. Joseph Hospital representative Annette Dennis.

Both the varsity and JV teams from both schools dressed in pink and the teams presented one another pink carnations as well.

Oscoda improved to 4-2 with the win.
