MIO AuSABLE - Sep. 17, 2009 - Hale gave Mio a battle for two games Thursday an a North Star League volleyball matchup, but the Thunderbolts pulled away to a big third-set win after edging the Eagles in the first two games. Mio bounced back from its first NSL defeat of the season with a 26-24, 25-23, 25-8 victory.
Hale coach Heather Chrivia said that some changes to the lineup helped against Mio, but that those changes should really pay dividends as her team becomes more accustomed to them.
"I feel the changes were really positive," she said. "I liked the way the girls came together. I look for a more successful future once we get everyone acclimated to their new positions.
"The girls played hard and communicated well, but unfortunately we just couldn't pull out the win."
Leading Hale (1-4, 1-3 NSL) were Halley Wolkens with six aces and 10 digs; Laura Sidebottom and Shelby Rhein with 100 percent serving; Kelsey Reilly with seven kills; and Stacey Eno with 15 assists.
