ARENAC EASTERN - Sep. 15, 2009 - Arenac Eastern earned its first victory of the season Tuesday, outlasting AuGres-Sims 25-10, 19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-8 in a North Star League volleyball match.
"Both teams played hard with strong serves and long volleys," said AE coach Hannah Neil. "(We) have been working hard on getting our serves over consistently and playing together like a team."
Leading AE (1-4, 1-2 North Star League) were Erin Ecker with seven aces, four kills and 30 assists and Maddie Forshee with 15 tips.
AuGres (0-3, 0-3) was led by Chelsea Miller with 13-of-14 serving; Anita Rollins with five kills; Lyndsay Morrison with seven assists; Amber Czymber with three aces and Brittany Robinson with five digs.
"We are making some mistakes that will disappear with more game experience," said AGS coach Jeri Christie. "Overall I believe that we played pretty well. Kudos to AE because they played a nice set. we had some rallies that were long and intense.
"I've gotta believe that you haven't seen the last of this team."
