HALE - Nov. 2, 2009 - Hale's volleyball team put together a solid effort in Monday's Class D District 121 tournament opener, defeating Fairview 25-11, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18.
"It was a great game and the girls really worked well together," said Hale coach Heather Chrivia. "We had some freshmen really step up and they really came through for us tonight."
Lauren Mortiz turned in perhaps her best game of the season with five digs and five kills. Also leading the Eagles were Laura Sidebottom with 12 digs and 10 kills; Kelsey Reilly with seven aces and 15 digs; Stacey Eno with 24 assists; and Lindsay Weaver with 20 digs.
Hale (11-12-2) takes on Mio AuSable in Wednesday's 7:30 semifinal contest. Hillman, a 25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 in Monday's other contest, takes on Posen in the 6:00 semifinal, with the winners facing off Friday for the district championship.
