ROGERS CITY - Nov. 2, 2009 - District favorite Rogers City didn't mess around in its first-round volleyball match with Oscoda on Monday, rolling to a 25-10, 26-24, 25-16 victory over the OWls.
"We just didn't bring our 'A' game," said Oscoda coach Laura Franklin. "We just couldn't put it all together, and Rogers City did."
Leading the Owls (12-11-3) were Chelsea Carraway with five kills, Megan Zarachowicz with four kills, three digs and five blocks, Lelia Cotton with four kills, eight blocks and one ace; Niki Shugart with two kills and 11 digs; Ashley Scott with six assists; Shannon Fowler with four digs and Mary Wood with two blocks.
"The girls should be so proud of themselves," Franklin said. "They did have a winning (season) ... They learned to play together as a team.
"We were really hit with the flu toward the end of the season, so they all really worked hard to fill spots they had never played." |
