AKRON - Aug. 28, 2009 - AuGres-Sims' Travis Byard rushed for 97 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 86 more yards and another score as the Wolverines opened their season with a 42-6 victory at Akron-Fairgrove.

The Wolverines moved the ball at will against the Vikings in the first quarter, getting a 1-yard run from Byard just two minutes into the game, a 19-yard Colton Liddell touchdown run and an 11-yard pass from Byard to Jonathan Miller in the first quarter.

Byard added runs of 11 yards in the second quarter and 12 and 14 yards in the third.

Connor Pendred added 77 yards on nine carries, scored a two-point conversion and was 3-of-4 on PAT kicks.

Joseph Dady was in on 12 total tackles, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble; Austin Johnson had eight tackles; Pendred added seven tackles and recovered a fumble; and Derrick Stanley had an interception.

The Wolverines (1-0) travel to Alcona (1-0) on Thursday.
