ARENAC EASTERN - Sep. 18, 2009 - Arenac Eastern finally got its offense rolling Friday against Hillman.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, it was too late to pull out a win as the Tigers held on for a 30-14 victory over AE.
Eastern coach Mark Machulis said the back-breaker came on the final play of the first half. Leading 12-0 with four seconds remaining, Hillman scored on a broken pass play to take a three-touchdown lead at the break.
The Eagles finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. Graham Morgan hit Brandon Gould for a 31-yard touchdown pass and Joey Kramer connected with Caleb Whitney for a 25-yard score.
Whitney led the Eagles with 98 yards rushing on 19 carries and caught four passes for 58 yards. Morgan added 13 rushes for 70 yards and threw for 64 yards on 4-of-9 passing.
Al Bilacic paced the defense with 18 tackles and a fumble recovery, with Buford Jones adding 12 tackles.
AE (1-3, 0-3 NSL) picks up a forfeit victory this Friday against Posen and next takes the field Oct. 2 at home against Atlanta.
Hillman (2-2, 2-0) hosts Mio (3-1, 2-0) on Sep. 25. |
