OGEMAW HEIGHTS – Dec. 15, 2007 – The Falcons struggled to get past the winless Spartans on Friday, but still managed a 39-30 victory for their second NEMC victory of the season.
“Pinny is much improved over last season,” said Ogemaw Heights coach Tim Hansen. “Right now we are not playing together as a team.”
That might have been a factor in the Falcons' shooting performance from the floor, from where they were just 16-of-65 (24.6 percent). They were also just 7-of-20 from the free throw line.
Ogemaw gradually pulled away in the second half despite going 2-of-11 from the line in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons edged led by just 15-11 at the half despite allowing the Spartans a single Lauren Pilot hoop in the second quarter.
“Our rebounding and fouling were slightly improved,” Hansen said.
Ashley Thompson led the Falcons (2-3, 2-1 NEMC) with six points, with Jacie Lucas, Tiffani Rouse, Keshia Allen and Jorie Lucas adding four apiece. In all, 11 Falcons reached the exceptionally balanced scoring column.
Pinny (0-6, 0-2) was led by Jessica Vidalez and Pilot, each with eight points, while Nicole Sanford added five.
