JOHN GLENN - Dec. 4, 2007 - John Glenn's girls basketball team built a big first half lead held off Ogemaw Heights 46-40 in a non-conference matchup between NEMC teams on Tuesday.

Led by Lauren Bluhm's 17 first-half points, the Bobcats built a 32-17 lead by halftime. The Falcons pulled to within three points late in the game as Glenn scored only four points from the floor in the second half.

"(Glenn) was 10 times more physical (than Ogemaw) and beat up on us all night long," said Falcon coach Tim Hansen. "We didn't have the intensity necessary to be competitive."

The Falcons also didn't help themselves with an 8-of-20 performance from the free throw line.

"(That) isn't going to keep you in too many ball games," Hansen said. "Especially when some of those are the front ends of one-and-ones.

"As it usually goes, when you are missing from the line you are usually just as bad from the floor, and we were."

Kristi Killackey led Ogemaw with nine points.

The Falcons (1-1) will have their hands full Friday when they travel to Standish-Sterling.

"My fear of 'inexperience' was realized," Hansen said. "Hopefully we can learn from the physical whipping we took. We can't afford not to get better with SSC coach Kevin King in the stands licking his chops at what he saw out of us."
