PINCONNING - Feb. 15, 2008 - Road games on back-to-back nights didn't slow down the Ogemaw Heights girls, who rebounded from Thursday's overtime loss to Whittemore-Prescott with a 61-34 victory over Pinconning on Friday to close out the regular season.
"The kids responded well after a tough finish the night before," said Falcon coach Tim Hansen. "I was concerned with the Pinny game because they played us so close at home earlier in the year and they have been playing people close for most of the season."
Pinny had just come off a 53-46 loss to W-P earlier in the week, but the Falcons (9-11, 5-7 NEMC), despite being down to nine players in uniform, jumped ahead early and this time extended their lead late in the game.
"The kids eased my nerves early and played a great team game," Hansen said.
Colleen Wren scored 16 points, Kristi Killackey added 14 and Ashley Thompson had a strong all-around game with 12 points, eight assists, six steals and a 6-of-6 night at the free throw line.
"When (Thompson) is not scoring, she's doing so many other things," Hansen said.
Stacy Wozniak led Pinny (3-17, 2-10) with 11 points, with Jessica Vidalez adding seven. |
