GAYLORD - Feb. 5, 2008 - A huge third quarter lifted the Gaylord girls basketball team past Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday, 62-52.
The Falcons took a 27-25 halftime lead, largely thanks to three 3-pointers from Ashley Thompson in the second quarter.
That two-point lead didn't last long, though as the Blue Devils ripped off 26 points in the third quarter to the Falcons' 10 in taking command. Seven Gaylord players scored during the decisive run as Tessa Walsh, who led her team with 14 points, scored seven during that stretch.
Thompson finished with a game-high 19 points as the Falcons dropped to 8-8 overall. Rilee Palm added six as all 22 players on both rosters got into the scoring column.
The Falcons face a tough road test at league-leading Tawas on Friday, leading off a varsity doubleheader at 6 p.m. |
