GLADWIN - Jan. 22, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights' girls shut out Gladwin in the first quarter and outscored the Flying G's in every period on the way to a 57-28 non-conference girls basketball victory on Tuesday.

"You never know if the Ogemaw 'A' team or 'B' team is going to show up," said Falcon coach Tim Hansen. "Tonight, the 'A' team came to play.

When the kids have their heads mentally in the game and are working together they are a pretty good team. We still have a ton of fundamentals to work on but they are getting better."

The Falcons led 28-10 at the half and were never threatened.

Ashley Thompson poured in 25 points, including 14 in the second quarter, and Colleen Wren added 12 as the Falcons improved to 6-6.

It was the third straight win for the Falcons, forcing Hansen to live up to his end of a deal he made with the team a couple weeks ago.

"I made a deal with the kids before the W-P game that if they won three games in a row I would wear a shirt and tie and even 'long pants' as long as they kept winning," he said. "Thursday I will have to shelve the shorts while we play the toughest game of the season. SSC won't be overlooking us like they did earlier this season; they have been playing outstanding ball lately."
