OSCODA - Nov. 27, 2007 - Hale erased an early deficit Monday to post a 50-44 victory over Oscoda in the opening game of the season for the Eagles.
The Owls, who defeated AuGres-Sims the previous night, burst out to a 13-5 lead after one quarter despite playing without injured point guard Heather Spenceley. Heather Patterson picked up the slack scoring eight points in the quarter.
Hale awakened to outscore the Owls 17-7 in the second quarter and took a 22-20 lead at the half.
Oscoda had a chance to tie the score with a minute to go, but missed a layup and saw the Eagles pull away in the final seconds.
The Owls were hurt by 10-of-30 free throw shooting as well.
Patterson led Oscoda (1-1) with 20 points, with Abby Samotis adding eight.
Sara Michalski had 13 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Eagles. Kassie Johnson added 11 points and Tarra Caverly scored 10.
