OSCODA - Dec. 14, 2007 - Oscoda earned its second straight boys basketball victory over the Alcona Tigers on Friday, and this time didn't waste any time building a big lead.
The Owls, who struggled for a quarter against Alcona earlier in the week, this time opened up a 14-5 lead after the first period and led 28-14 at the half.
"I asked our kids to be aggressive on defense, and I was proud of their effort," said Oscoda coach Scott Lueck. "We were able to disrupt much of their offense."
The Tigers may have been geared up to stop Adam Dettmer, and Mike Leveille took advantage by scoring seven first-quarter points to spark the Owls. Leveille finished with 15 points, while Dettmer had finished with a double-double with 17 points and 10 steals.
Matt Gonyea led Alcona with 11 points.
The Owls (4-0) finish off their three-game series with the Tigers on Tuesday at home.
