LINCOLN - Dec. 12, 2007 - Oscoda overcame a slow start Tuesday and outscored Alcona 26-6 in the middle quarters to key a 40-28 victory over the Tigers.
"Alcona defended us well," said Oscoda coach Scott Lueck of the first quarter, after which the Owls trailed 10-2. "Early on we missed some open mid-range shots but were unable to get good looks closer to the basket.
"Eventually we did."
Once that happened, the Owls took control. Adam Dettmer scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the middle two quarters.
"Other than the first quarter," said Lueck, "I was happy with how we played."
Matt Gonyea led Alcona with eight points.
Oscoda (3-0) returns to Alcona on Friday for the second of three straight games against the Tigers (0-1).
