OSCODA - Feb. 15, 2008 - Oscoda moved a step closer to ensuring itself a winning season Friday, and did it without a huge scoring night from Adam Dettmer.
The Owls outscored John Glenn in each of the first three quarters and defeated the Bobcats 57-36 behind 17 points from Mike Lamrock and 13 from Jason Jimenez. Dettmer finished with eight points.
"I thought the kids played great," said Oscoda coach Scott Lueck. "I always preach, 'Play hard, play smart and play as a team.' tonight I though we did most of that."
The Owls outshot Glenn 45-29 percent from the floor and led 31-20 at the half.
"Lamrock had another great game," Lueck said. "He is our third wheel and really relishes the attention that Dettmer and Jimenez get. He gets open a lot and gets offensive boards."
Jimenez nearly earned a triple-double, with 10 rebounds and seven assists, while backup guards Justin Cain and Tom Schonfeld provided a lift off the bench.
The Bobcats (3-15, 2-8 NEMC) were without head coach Dale Clyde, who was ill and missed the game.
"He's a good coach and good motivator," Lueck said. "I'm sure they missed having him on the bench."
The Owls (9-8, 3-8 NEMC) play at AuGres-Sims on Tuesday and host Ogemaw Heights on Thursday in their last-ever NEMC league contest. |
