FAIRVIEW - Feb. 5, 2008 - There can be no doubt that Oscoda's Mike Lamrock loves to play Fairview.
Lamrock sparked the Owls in the third quarter with 13 of his career-high 21 points as Oscoda responded to a 27-22 halftime deficit with a 22-4 run in the third quarter to take control of Tuesday's game as the Owls went on to take a 56-48 victory.
Lamrock's previous career high of 20 also came against Fairview.
"Certainly the story was the third quarter," said Oscoda coach Scott Lueck. "I was very upset with our lack of effort on the defensive end in the first half and at halftime I made it clear that I have higher expectations for the athletes that I coach.
"It was nice to see how the team handled my challenge."
The Eagles took their halftime lead behind seven points in the first half from Tyler Kalahar and Carl Gossman and six from Jubal Handrich, offsetting 10 from the Owls' Adam Dettmer.
Though the Owls outscored the Eagles in only one of four quarters, their third quarter surge was more than enough.
"Mike played exceptionally well," Lueck said of Lamrock. "He hustles all the time, so it was nice to see him set a career high in points."
Kalahar led Fairview (6-9) with 15 points, with Handrich adding 13.
Dettmer finished with 18 for the Owls (8-6) with Jason Jimenez adding 10. |
