TAWAS AREA - Apr. 30, 2008 - Tawas Area's girls track team defeated Pinconning and Oscoda in an NEMC tri-meet at home on Wednesday, with Pinny also edging past Oscoda.

The Braves scored 84 points, followed by Pinny (48) and the Owls (42).

Winning events for Tawas were Dana Kolnitys in the 100 (13.73) and 200 (28.01); Brittany Combs in the 400 (1:07.00); Richelle Payea in the 800 (2:43) and long jump (13-11.5); Emily Short in the 1600 (6:01); Samantha Duvall in the 100 hurdles (18.23); and the 4x100 (56.43), 4x400 (4:36) and 4x800 (11:32) relays.

For Pinny, Jessica Vidalez was a winner in the 3200 (13:06); Hannah Schmidt in the high jump (4-6); and Lynette Pashak in the pole vault (7-0).

Oscoda's Jeri Carl, Mariah Wood and Sarah Inman swept the top three positions in the shot put and discus, with Carl winning both the shot (32-0) and discus (81-3). Also winning for the Owls were Ashley Schonfeld in the 300 hurdles (51.83); and the 4x200 relay (2:01.61).
