JOHN GLENN - May 2, 2008 - Standish-Sterling continued to build its impressive boys track season resume with a victory at the John Glenn Invitational on Friday.

The Panthers (108) outpointed Clare (82), Ogemaw Heights (71), Glenn (61), Saginaw Nouvel (44) and Vassar (35).

Winning events for SSC were Mark Stawowy in the shot put (48-4); Kevin Reeves in the 100 (11.80); Ryan Pickvet in the 1600 (4:44.8); Casey Potts, Reeves, Ashton Gulvas and Kris Hazeltine in the 4x100 relay (45.60); Potts in the 100 hurdles (41.80); and Trent Fouchey in the 200 (23.40).

Other top finishers for the Panthers were the 4x800 relay team of Shay Irving, Pickvet, Mike Prohaska and Kyle Turner (2nd, 8:52.69); Cole Walderzak in the discus (2nd, 137-5) high jump (4th, 5-8) and shot put (5th, 43-10); Ashton Gulvas in the long jump (3rd, 18-8); Hazeltine in the 100 (3rd, 11.96) and 200 (2nd, 23.90); Potts in the 100 (4th, 11.98); Fouchey in the 400 (2nd, 54.49); Alex Schmidt in the 400 (3rd, 55.89); Irving in the 800 (2nd, 2:13.36); and Fouchey, Mitchell McFarland, Potts and Reeves in the 4x400 (2nd, 3:42.0).
