OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Apr. 30, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights boys track coach Doug Grezeszak has been extolling the level of talent of Standish-Sterling's team all season.

On Wednesday, the Panthers proved the Falcons' coach right, handing Ogemaw its first dual meet loss of the season 95-42. Standish-Sterling won all but three events in easily handling the Falcons on their home track.

"Standish is an amazing team," Grezeszak said.

The Panthers got winning performances from Austin Collier in the high jump (5-10) and 200 (23.73); Trevor Trombley in the pole vault (11-0) and long jump (19-0.25); Shay Irving, Ryan Pickvet, Mike Prohaska and Kyle Turner in the 4x800 relay (8:59.69); Casey Potts in the 100 (11.96) and 300 hurdles (44.00); James Bashor, Michell McFarland, Kris Hazeltine and Kevin Reeves in the 4x200 (1:37.94); Ryan Pickvet in the 1600 (4:54.08); Collire, Potts, Ashton Gulvas and Hazeltine in the 4x100 (46.13); Trent Fouchey in the 400 (52.85); Irving in the 800 (2:18.39); and Fouchey, McFarland, Potts and Reeves in the 4x400 (3:43.42).

The Panthers took the top two spots in three events and swept the top three another three times, while the Falcons had just one top-two and one top-three sweep.

Ogemaw's winners were Anthony Carollo in the discus (144-3); Alex Rose in the shot put (48-9); Clarence Buhlman in the 110 hurdles (17.33); and Martin Nelkie in the 3200 (10:47.59).

SSC improved to 4-0 in league duals and hosts John Glenn and Pinconning on May 7. The Falcons (4-1) will travel to Tawas Area the same afternoon.
