AKRON-FAIRGROVE - May 9, 2008 - AuGres-Sims' boys track and field team brought home its third invitational trophy of the season Friday by dominating the small school division of the Akron-Fairgrove Invitational, taking the top spot by more than 50 points.

The Wolverines (165) topped Kingston (113), Peck (88), Carsonville Port Sanilac (77), Kinde North Huron (40.5), Akron-Fairgrove (21), Caseville (12) and Port Hope (4.5).

AGS took first place in its division in eight events. Nate Jennings was a winner in the shot put (42-2.5); David Garske won the high jump (5-11) and long jump (20-3); A.J. Baker won the 1600 (4:45.17), 800 (2:15.51) and 3200 (10:45.74); and Nathan Trapp was a winner in the 110 hurdles (17.46). The Wolverines' 4x800 relay team of Colton Liddell, Alex Lutz, Trapp and Baker also took first with a time of 9:31.45.

Other top finishers for the Wolverines included Jennings in the discus (4th, 93-9); Brandon Kelly in the long jump (4th, 17-10), 100 (3rd-tie, 11.53) and 200 (2nd, 22.94); Kyle Gilbert (3rd, 18.67) and Arthur Griffore (4th, 18.71) in the 110 hurdles; Gilbert, Kyle Stolt, Jennings and Kelly in the 4x200 relay (3rd, 1:39.41); Trapp (2nd, 44.63) and Gilbert (3rd, 46.61) in the 300 hurdles; Lutz in the 800 (4th, 2:21.48); Garske in the 100 (2nd, 11.30) and 200 (3rd, 24.24); and Kyle Gingerich, Lutz, Liddell and Griffore in the 4x400 (4th, 4:21.30).

The Wolverines next run at the Division 4 regional in Coleman on Saturday, May 17.
