AuGRES-SIMS - May 6, 2008 - AuGres-Sims' boys track and field team won its second straight invitational, topping the field by more than 30 points at its home event on Tuesday.
The Wolverines (118 points) nearest challengers were Hale (81) and Whittemore-Prescott (75.5). Hillman (51) finished fourth, followed by Mio AuSable (47), Alcona (45), Fairview (35.5), Tawas Area (30), Oscoda (28), Atlanta (16) and Posen.
A few teams were hampered by significant losses: Tawas sent only a partial team due to a league meet the next day; Fairview was missing several key athletes due to a choir trip to Canada; and Whittemore-Prescott lost one of its top point-scorers, Sean Siegrist, after he fell while crossing the finish line at the end of the 100-meter dash and skidded several feet through gravel off the end of the track. Siegrist left the meet for the hospital but had recovered enough to run for W-P in a meet two days later.
