LINCOLN - May 5, 2008 - Whittemore-Prescott had its bats in top working order Monday as the Cardinals swept Alcona 13-3 and 13-1.
Julie Janish earned both victories. In the opener, she pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine batters. Sharesse King hit the first of two home runs on the day and had a double, while Chelsea Jasman hit a home run and single. Kelsey Sievers and Jordan Maxwell each had two hits.
"Sharesse hit a monster home run," said W-P coach Sam Harrison. "It is fun to watch her hit this season. She has improved her skills each year."
In the second game, Janish allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five and added a double and two triples at the plate.
King added her second home run and double and Ashley Tanner had two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs.
