STANDISH-STERLING - Apr. 28, 2008 - Standish-Sterling earned a 10-0 and 7-2 sweep of Oscoda on Monday behind the pitching of Barbara Filipeck and Emily Meschke.
Filipeck won both decisions, tossing a three-hitter in the first game with eight strikeouts, then coming on in relief of Meschke to pitch the final three innings of the second contest with the score tied at 2-2.
Ellen Walderzak had three hits in the opener for SSC, with Filipeck, Samantha McQuarter, Allie Ouillette and Olivia Picard each with two. Filipeck, Walderzak and Picard each had doubles.
Abby Wilkerson had two hits for the Owls, with Riley Shelton adding one.
In the second game, Meschke allowed three hits, one earned run and struck out six batters in four innings before Filipeck closed the game out.
Abby Wilkerson had two hits and an RBI for the Owls, while Spenceley scored both runs and Nikki Shugart had an RBI single.
Filipeck and Cassie Roehm each had two doubles for SSC, with Jordan Dodd adding two hits.
The Panthers improved to 5-3 NEMC while Oscoda fell 0-6 but is 11-7 overall.
