HALE - May 13, 2008 - Oscoda rolled up 39 runs of offense Tuesday as the Owls swept Hale in a nonconference doubleheader 11-1 and 20-2.
Nikki Shugart tossed a one-hitter in the opener and had three hits of her own. Riley Shelton also had three hits including a double.
Rachel Maher and Kassie Johnson had the Eagles' hits.
Lauryn Springsteen, who struck out seven in the first game for Hale, also had to start the second after second pitcher Laura Sidebottom was injured in the first game.
"I had to pitch Lauryn longer than I wanted to," said Hale coach Don Springsteen.
Oscoda led the second game 5-2 before putting up 11 runs in the fourth inning to put the game well out of reach.
Abby Wilkerson had four hits for the Owls with Abby Samotis adding two. Ashley Scott earned the win for the Owls, blanking Hale after allowing two runs in the first inning on Springsteen's two-run double.
Oscoda improved to 16-17 while Hale dropped to 6-14.
